Win, Lose and Draw

Sri Lanka U19’s have accomplished something that some of there senior players haven’t for awhile, i.e. is beat Australia. It was refreshing to known that the Aussie’s being bowled out inside 50 overs for 170 odd and Sri Lanka chasing it down with the loss of only 5 wickets. The Sri Lankan spinners did the good work in restricting the Aussie’s after the were off to a pretty good start. So the win would mean that Sri Lanka will face New Zealand in the Quarter-Finals on Monday.

On a sad note the Sri Lankan National team have lost their match to Australia via Duck-Worth Lewis thanks to rain intervening during the 29th over of the SL innings. This certainly spell bad news for Sri Lanka as now have to definitely win their last 2 matches and hope that India lose the last 2 matches to Australia. It was also a superb bowling performance by them as well to restrict the Aussie’s to 184. Although the chase was in jepardy after Sanga got out, it would have been close had the full 50 overs been played. You never known maybe Maharoof and Vaas would have a blast at the end.

Wednesday night’s (or Thursday’s early morning) Champions League match between AC Milan and Arsenal was a real treat to watch. Although it was goalless it was really good to see the attacking football displayed, more from Arsenal than AC. Arsenal played some fluent passing football and didn’t see, like the side who played against United a few days earlier. Milan on the other hand defended brilliantly and showed character when they counter-attacked. Seedorf and Kaka showed some brilliant skill, as did Pato and Pirlo to a lesser extent. Although Arsenal had their best chance to score at the final minute of injury time, with Adebayor heading against the crossbar, it was Milan who will walk away with their heads held up high. Its now all to play for at the San Siro in a fortnight. I’ve embedded a small highlights package i found on YouTube, and after viewing this you can see how much Arsenal dominated.
