We have come to the end of the week. A week full of action, including some good and bad results for Sri Lanka in the CB series, Arsenal getting clobbered by Man Utd in the FA Cup and the injury crisis at Milan ahead of the their Champions League match.
Australia have finally beaten India today and lead the CB series standings. The only good thing is that Sri Lanka have a chance of going second if they manage to beat India on Tuesday. As usual it might turnout to be a battle for second place and place in the best of 3 finals. And if Sri Lanka are to guarantee a place in the finals they should at least hope to beat Australia in one of the upcoming matches. Australia were today again pushed back by some brilliant bowling by Indian fast bowling, but were able to recover and post a somewhat alright total of 203 and then managed to bowl out the Indians for 153 (I think the Aussie are somewhat experts at bowling well to low totals, it really fires up their bowlers!!)
The hugely anticipated match between Arsenal and Man Utd which was billed to be an even contest, turned out to be 4-0 rout to Man Utd. The other shocker of the night was Liverpool going out to Barnsley (2-1) , after coming from behind and scoring the winner in the 90th minute (Fairytale stuff, don’t u think!!!)
The Champions League resumes this week with some major match-ups including Liverpool vs Inter, Real Madrid vs Roma, Lyon vs Man Utd and Arsenal Vs AC Milan to name a few. The Milan Vs Arsenal match should be great with the Gunners facing the Italian Red Devils – Rossoneri (another Red Devils!!!). I’ll be backing Milan, but they are facing a huge injury crisis with players not fully fit. With both Kalac and Dida out, Ancelotti might have to turn to 3rd choice Valerio Fiori and hopefully Pato would be back too.
The Under 19 world cup has also kicked off, most of the big teams registering easy wins against the associate teams. Sri Lanka Under 19’s are due to play Nepal tomorrow and hopefully will turn in an emphatic performance.
Also, tonight No Way Out will be taking place with some big matches. It’ll also be the last pay-per-view before Wrestlemania. The 2 big matches would be the Elimination Chamber matches for both Raw and Smackdown with the winner of each facing the respective brand title holders. The Raw elimination match involves Umaga, Shawn Micheals, Triple H, Chris Jericho, JBL and Jeff Hardy – a tough one to call and i hope its anyone but JBL. The Smackdown elimination chamber match consists of Batista, Khali, Big Daddy V, Finlay, MVP and The Undertaker – hopefully it’ll be Taker who’ll be using his new submission to good effect.
Well, an exciting week ahead hopefully will earn some good points on Uefa Champions League Fantasy football.
