Sri Lanka have won their warm-up match with PM XI that was played earlier today (or was it yesterday not very sure about the time difference). Anyway we managed to bowl out the hosts for 152 and chased it down with 4 wickets to spare. Seemed like a good test for us with the real matches starting on tuesday the 5th with India to start-off.
Unfortunately most of the batsmen were unable to get good batting practice except for Dilshan (who top scored with 74) and Sanath (with 43). It was good to see the bowlers among the wickets especially Maharoof who’s back from a small layoff and Ishara Amerasinghe too. A surprising 5th bowler was used in the form of Kapugedara who managed to pick up a wicket as well. Apparently he bowls medium pace (do we have potential allrounder in the team? hmmmm…?)
On another note Sanga has won the best test innings of the year for the 192 in the 2nd Test against the Aussie’s and Malinga has won best one day international bowling spell for his 4-52 against South Africa during the World Cup. Both of these have won these awards courtsey of the Innaugral Cricinfo Awards. Check out the Article here.
